Healthy Perspectives, Inc. (HPI) is a nonprofit public benefit organization comprised of individuals committed to the education and development of an advocacy network of community business owners, residents and other professionals who understand and acknowledge the benefits of employing and supporting people in recovery
The Missionof HPI is to provide and improve opportunities for employment, vocational, medical, and legal and other educational and support services for individuals, families and communities who have been affected with the disease of addiction, including those on parole, with HIV/AIDS, HEP C and other behavioral health disorders.
PAST & PRESENT ACTIVITIES
Mothers Day Tea; Fathers Day Barbeque; Celebrations and Holidays
Purpose & Nature: Identify children of parents who are engaged in behavioral health care treatment in order to provide culturally sensitive holiday activities including food, gifts, transportation and other clothing needs. The activity provides a safe social environment for families to experience a clean and sober activity that supports recovery.
- Anyone from the community who is engaged in their recovery is invited along with local providers, case managers, probation, parole, city & county services and others invested in the health and well being of the community.
- There are no charges or fees.
Coat Drive
Purpose & Nature: The Coat Drive effort provides warm clothing during the winter months for people in need. Volunteers distribute coats and other warm clothing at parks and other areas where people are staying. Volunteers and recipients are generally those affected with addiction and/or mental illness. Direct requests from an individual or case manager are welcome.
- Volunteers assist with donations and fundraising efforts. Anyone from the community invited along with local providers, case managers, probation, parole, city & county services and others invested in the health and well being of the community to donate or distribute.
- There are no charges or fees.
Hepatitis C Conference (March 23 and 24, 2007)
Purpose & Nature: To increase awareness of the epidemic proportions of the disease, spread information and education into the community and provide hope for those affected with the disease personally or professionally. At the conclusion of the conference participants will be able to:
- Discuss clinical aspects of Hepatitis C
- Discuss treatment options for Hepatitis C
- Discuss the impact of substance abuse and diseases such as syphilis and HIV on Hepatitis C
- Discuss management concerns for transplant patients
- Discuss current research options for Hepatitis C
FUTURE ACTIVITIES
Recovery Network Purpose & Nature: To provide information, referrals, support services and education to individuals, families and communities through an established network of local providers. The intent is to tie in the community’s local services and businesses and educate them on the benefits of hiring individuals who are in recovery. HIV/AIDS & Hep C Training and Outreach
Purpose & Nature: To provide education, testing and referrals for the local community on HIV/AIDS and Hep C.
- Testing to be conducted by a trained individual at office sites donated by Healthy Partnerships. Testing will be conducted in a confidential and sensitive manner.
- No requirements.
- No fees.
- Healthy Perspectives will provide other educational, support services and referrals.
- An easily accessible place for individuals to be tested on a drop-in basis.
- Time and effort will also tie into the Recovery Network activity through promotion and networking with local community services and business.
